Navy Veteran Chelsea Parker as my guest has been rescheduled for Jan 7th

Chelsea

Chelsea Parker as my guest on LA Sounds has been rescheduled for Jan 7. A live show from the Big Room at Sierra Nevada will be broadcast tonight instead. Sr Felipe's Christmas show will be broadcast Dec 24.

Tuesday night, Dec 17, on "LA Sounds" I'll be playing my favorite R&B and Do-Wop Christmas oldies and I'm going to have Chico native Navy veteran Chelsea Parker as a special guest on my show at 8 PM.

Chelsea Parker was 17 years old and barely out of Fair View High school here in Chico, when she left for Navy boot camp.  She enlisted in September of 2000, a year before the attacks on the World Trade Center.  Two weeks after the attacks, she boarded a plane for Misawa, Japan and was trained to be a Cryptology Technician.  She stayed in Misawa until 2004, when she was sent to San Angelo Texas for additional training before heading to Hawaii to begin deploying.

Chelsea did operations off the coast of CA on USS TARAWA and was deployed on USS PELELIU. After three years of deploying she was able to transfer to shore duty and stay in Hawaii for three more years.  During that time her son, Tyson, was born.  When her tour ended in 2011, she returned home to Chico to raise her son near family.  She opened a portrait studio in 2012 and got involved in the Veterans Garden Project during the summer of 2013.

"LA Sounds" is broadcast live on 90.1 FM Chico, CA and streamed live every Tuesday night 7:30-10:00  PM on KZFR.org
