The Occupation of the American Mind

THE OCCUPATION OF THE AMERICAN MIND
Israel’s Public Relations War in the United States

A film showing of THE OCCUPATION OF THE AMERICAN MIND will be held on the CSUC Campus, Ayers Hall 120, on Wednesday, April 10, 7:00 pm.,  400 W 1st Street in Chico.  Co-sponsored by the CSUC Peace Institute and the Chico Palestine Action Group

The film runs 1 hour 15 minutes, and will be followed by discussion.  There is no charge for admission.

The film explores how the Israeli government, the U.S. government, and the pro-Israel lobby have joined forces, often with very different motives, to shape American media coverage of the conflict in Israel's favor.  http://occupationmovie.org/about.html

The concerns raised in this film are acutely relevant to recent heated discussions in the halls of the US Congress, initiated by newly elected Rep. Ilhan Omar, followed by the decision of Democratic candidates for President in 2020 deciding not to attend the recent AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) conference.

“This is a film that demands to be seen. It shows, with devastating precision, how effective propaganda can hide crimes that are epic in scale and have catastrophic consequences. Please see this film, screen it, talk about it.”  Ken Loach, Director and Filmmaker

"I wish every American would watch this powerful documentary. Not only every person of conscience, but every taxpayer, must see it -- and then ask themselves if the status quo is acceptable and can continue deep into the 21st century."  -  Gideon Levy | Columnist for Haaretz.

THE OCCUPATION OF THE AMERICAN MIND

Israel’s Public Relations War in the United States Film Screening

The CSUC Peace Institute and the Chico Palestine Action Group announce the film showing of The Occupation of the American Mind on Wednesday, April 10, 7:00 pm at CSUC’s Ayers Hall, Room 120, 400 W 1st Street in Chico. This film provides a sweeping analysis of Israel's decades-long battle for the hearts, minds, and tax dollars of the American people.

Israel's ongoing military occupation of Palestinian territory and its repeated invasions of the Gaza strip have triggered a fierce backlash against Israeli policies virtually everywhere in the world — except in the United States. The Occupation of the American Mind takes an eye-opening look at this critical exception, zeroing in on pro-Israel public relations efforts within the U.S.

Ilhan Omar:  “It’s almost as if every single time we say something, regardless of what it is we say, that is supposed to be about foreign policy, our engagement, our advocacy about ending oppression or the freeing of every human life and wanting dignity, we get to be labeled in something, and that ends the discussion, because we end up defending that, and nobody ever gets to have the broader debate of what is happening with Palestine.”   Ilhan Omar, Busboys and Poets Restaurant in Washington, D.C., March 2019
