It may be something of a well-kept secret as far north as Chico, but the 6th Annual Desert Daze in Joshua Tree in no small thing. October 13-15, attendees will be treated to a smorgasbord of rock 'n' roll delights, from iconic names like Iggy Pop, John Cale, Sleep and Spiritualized, to the toppermost of contemporary indie, i.e. Courtney Barnett, Allah-Las, Ty Segall, Ariel Pink and a loooooong list of others (You can even get a grade-A soul fix with the likes of Lee Fields and the Budos Band.) Desert Daze is the baby of Phil Pirrone, founder of Space Agency Booking and longtime stalwart of the Los Angeles psych scene, who took a little time to catch up with Jake Sprecher of KZFR in anticipation of the festival.
We'd be honored if you would vote for us. You'll find us in the Community section of the ballet, of course! There's no Community Radio without You!
To celebrate 35 years of independent community radio, "Mic Check: An Oral History of KZFR" takes listeners behind the scenes of KZFR 90.1 FM’s earliest days.
Youth members of the Boys & Girls Club of the North Valley recently toured the station. Our GM gave them a behind the scenes look at an independent, nonprofit community radio station. Your group could too!
