20 Amazing Local Non-Profits

Thank you to everyone who volunteered during KZFR's Spring 2015 pledge drive. We could not do it without you!

Much gratitude goes to the 20 awesome local non-profit groups for supporting community radio by answering the phones during the pledge drive! WOW! 20!?! Yes! and we appreciate them all.

The following 6 went above and beyond by staffing multiple shifts - Stonewall, Home at Last Sanctuary, Butte Literacy Council, Chico Natural Foods Co-Op,  Chico Certified Farmers Market and Catalyst!

Stonewall Alliance  - "Stonewall Alliance is committed to cultivating a safe, open, inclusive environment for all members of the gender and sexual minority (GSM)* and ally community. Stonewall Alliance unites, strengthens, and affirms the community through support, resources, education, advocacy, and celebration. We know that too often gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people face discrimination and rejection because of who they love. The Stonewall Alliance Center exists to provide a connection to community in an effort to lessen isolation of, strengthen the spirit of, and give voice to the disenfranchised."

Home at Last Sanctuary - "HALS is home to more than 70 horses, donkeys and mules, plus calves, goats, dogs and cats-all rescues. The animals at HALS receive the best care, feed and vet attention. Quality of life is our main concern. Juan came with an upturned hoof and now has a specially made shoe. The horses, donkeys and mules rely on your kindness to help them."

Butte Literacy Council - "BLC was established in 1989 to support local efforts promoting literacy and enjoyment of reading in Butte County and surrounding areas. Chico Certified Farmers Market - "The CCFM provides a unique opportunity for farmers and vendors to sell directly to the consumer by hosting State Certified Farmers’ Markets. Our first Farmers’ Market began in Chico, CA in July of 1980. Our market moved several times before we found our ideal home at our current location in the City of Chico Municipal Parking Lot #1 at 2nd and Wall Streets in Downtown Chico, CA."
