May 12, 2017 -- The Desmond Phillips tragic police shooting death and the 1078 Gallery, past, present and future

The The Chico Vibe premiers Friday the 12th at 6pm Pacific on KZFR 90.1 FM with a ChicoSol.org news feature on the #DesmondPhillips shooting produced by Dave Waddell, the News Director at Chicosol.org. We also hear a poignant public comment speech on the shooting given to Chico City Council on March 21st, by Aramenta Hawkins, Executive Director at the Chico Peace & Justice Center. The segment ends with comments from several community members from the local Show up for Racial Justice group here in Butte County.

The arts feature is the 1078 Gallery past, present and future as the Gallery's long-time 820 Broadway location prepares to be vacated due to an eviction. Our featured guests are Erin Wade, President of the 1078 Gallery Board of Directors and Roxy Palmer a member of their booking collective.

We lead the show with Arts Talk a weekly feature spotlighting the Chico Arts Vibe with Jason Cassidy, "Arts Devo" at the Chico News & Review.

Our music bookends are Marie from Mystic Roots latest album Change and Standing on the Sun from The Vesuvians latest EP I Need Space.
