American Pastimes features a set of tunes issued by the last record company to produce 78 RPM discs, Fonotone. Also in the mix is Lowell Levinger (aka "Banana" of Youngbloods fame), Bill Monroe & the Bluegrass Boys, Norman Blake, and the banjo/dulcimer duo of Brad & Ken Kolodner. There's the usual round-up of string band suspects in between, plus late in the show we go off the rails with two old, old songs performed in new untraditional ways.
