What does community radio mean to you?

Free Speech with a different voice. New and Independent, Local music! The High Wire Radio Players (HWRP) is a Chico-based collaboration dedicated to encouraging, inventing, and maintaining performance and production outlets for the vast untapped creative skills, energies and loyalties of the community. HWRP operates primarily as an educational organization, seeking to promote individual and mutual understanding, to dissolve conflict, and to cultivate an interest in, passion for, and respect of the traditions of literature, theater, literacy, and public radio. HWRP adapts public domain literature for dramatic presentation and seeks to create programs and events that encourage all levels of exposure to, and involvement in the arts and sciences and history and future of radio theater. HWRP seeks to discover and nurture partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations, and to reach out with: under-represented source materials of literary merit; unique opportunities for public participation; free access and training to produce radio drama. We seek -with this joint event hosted by The Blue Room & ultimately broadcast on KZFR- to establish a precedent as well as a plan to develop, maintain & produce a calendar year of custom community events and broadcasts centered around delivering literature, creative opportunities, and public radio experience to families in Butte County.
