'Geographies of the Imagination' Exhibit

    On August 29th the Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology, at CSU, Chico, will open an exhibition titled,Geographies of the Imagination:  An Ethnographic Installation of Memories of Exile, Nostalgia and Migration.  Cultural  anthropologist and artist, Lydia Nakashima Degarrod, interviewed Chilean men and women about leaving their homeland to escape Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship.  Through collaboration and intimate communication, Lydia created monoprints and videos to powerfully depict their individual journeys.  


    The exhibit is free and open to the public Tuesday – Saturday from 11:-00 am – 3:00 pm through September 25th.

    The Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology is located on the first floor for the Meriam Library Complex, across from the main entrance, in MLIB 180.
