Overview

Did you know jumping rope improves reading skills? The "Learning is HIP" project uses auditory, visual and motor exercises, like balancing, jumping rope, matching and audio patterns, to improve five core learning skills: pattern recognition, memory, attention, processing & sequencing. Many students struggle because of weaknesses in core learning skills. After HIP Training student STAR scores improved more than all other peered students combined in the Chico Unified School District. Private clients report that HIP Training increases academic performance & improves self-confidence & social skills. HIP Training will be provided to 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students. Deliverables: 320 students enrolled, 8 instructors trained and equipped, 4 schools targeted, comparison report of STAR (Standardized Testing And Reporting) scores, 2 or more local press mentions, one five minute tv showcase, two articles for national journals, 1 trade, 1 scientific, $16,000 in matching funds.
